The columns of the Citicorp center couldn’t be built on the building corners because he couldn’t put them where a conventional building was, which was the church. Because of this it made the building a lot less stable. The flaw with the building was abut quarterly winds. Quarterly winds were winds blowing to the corners of the building. Skyscrapers are known to be strong at the corners. If the corners were not strong enough the wind could have blown the building and it would tip over and hit other buildings and it would have had a cascade effect. A senior college student, Diane Hartley, discovered this flaw. It was brought to the public by LeMessurier himself and Joe Morgenstern, a writer for the New Yorkers.
