Melissa talked about many research for different reasons. One in particular she talks about research for inspiration. We sometimes look at things or go research things for inspiration. Or sometimes, when we see something an idea just pops up in mind without even thinking about it. For example, you see a person with a cute dress and in your head that could be used as a description for your character’s outfit in a story that you are writing about. The questions that she asks is when she referred to a writers way how to find names and he would always resort to a phone book. She questions where else can you find something like this?
Melissa also talked about research for details. She goes on to say how important details are in writing. She wants readers to picture what the writer is trying to say. For example, she gives an example about trees. When a student writes about trees, she asks what kind, what does it look like? She loves the details in writing where she can visualize it in her head. She also provides an example where a writer researched a word she wasn’t too sure about the meaning. When she realized the meaning she decided to put it in her poem.
The research I used for my project is research for details. I wanted to find out the ingredients in lipsticks. Lipstick is something I sometime wear but I never really researched what was it. After researching. I found out that there are ingredients that can be harmful. From that research, I was able to make an infographic that highlight the harmful chemicals that are in lipsticks.
